Podbabiogórze is a region of finest natural, landscape and cultural value. Forests occupy nearly a half of the county’s area and mountain ranges are covered with a dense network of hiking, mountain bike and horse-riding trails. The biggest attraction of the county is Babia Góra (1,725 m above sea level), the highest peak of the Western Beskids mountains. The massif is located within the Babia Góra National Park (established in 1954), an extremely attractive area in terms of ecology and natural landscape. Since 1977 the park belongs to the UNESCO World Network of Biosphere Reserves.
