BESKID CENTER OF WOODEN TOY

The Beskid Center of Wooden Toy operates within the structures of the Communal Cultural Centre in Stryszawa, functioning in two neighbouring buildings: the former administrative building of the Board of Suski Forest Administration of the Counts Branicki and Tarnowski, dating from 1870, and the so-called ‘Toymaker’s House’, which is a contemporary reconstruction of a wooden cottage previously located there. The exhibition is devoted to the history of the oldest folk toy-making centre in Poland, dating back to the first half of the 19th century. Visitors can see colourful birds, horses, carriages, merry-go-rounds and co-called klepoki manufactured here over the years, and learn about the profiles of local folk artists, as well as the toymaker’s workshop. An additional attraction is the Park of Wooden Folk Toys – with many times enlarged copies of toys standing in the open air.
