MILITARY CEMENTERY IN WYSOKA

At the cemetery there rests one civilian and 14 Polish soldiers killed during the heroic battle fought on the 1st and 2nd September 1939 in the area of Wysoka village and in its vicinity by the units of the Polish army under the command of Colonel Stanisław Maczek (supported by the local population) against the advancing German armoured units. A total of 55 soldiers and three civilians died on the Polish side in the battle. Every year on September 1st, the cemetery hosts county celebrations of the anniversary of the outbreak of World War II.
