OAKS IN SIDZINA

The centre of Sidzina is adorned with beautiful oak trees – monuments of nature. According to local tradition, the residents of Sidzina received their seedlings from King John Casimir as a token of gratitude for their heroic stand during battles against the Swedes fought here during the so-called ‘Deluge’ in 1655. The other two – ‘Ewa’ (growing, just like ‘Adam’, by the roadside) and an unnamed oak (located slightly behind ‘Adam’, on a private property) are younger. The fourth monumental oak, named ‘Abraham’, can be admired behind the local parish church.
