LESKOWIEC and peak GROŃ JANA PAWŁA II

Situated in the Little Beskids Landscape Park, Leskowiec (922 m amsl) is an ideal destination for a not-too-difficult half-day mountain excursion. From its peak, there is a nice, although more and more limited by growing trees, view of the Beskids: Żywiec (with the centrally located Babia Góra), Maków and the distant Island.

A strip of beech and spruce forest separates the Leskowiec peak from the glade called Polana Barglowa, at the northern end of which stands a PTTK mountain hostel, built in 1932. Just above the hostel, under the peak of the Groń Jana Pawła II (890 m amsl), it is worth seeing the Mountain Sanctuary of the Queen of the Mountain People with a chapel, inside of which there is, among others, the throne on which the Polish Pope sat in Skoczów on 22 May 1995.
