ROUTE V

Jordanów (approx. 495 m amsl) – Wysoka (approx. 585 m amsl) – Góra Ludwiki (653 m amsl) – Jordanów (approx. 495 m amsl)

Walking time: 3 hrs

A short walk in the vicinity of Jordanów, ideal for less advanced tourists, but also for lovers of history and beautiful views – the military cemetery in Wysoka commemorates one of the most important battles of the first phase of the 1939 September campaign, and the sensational panorama from inconspicuous mountain called Góra Ludwiki will delight everyone.

From the market square in Jordanów we start along Kolejowa Street following the red signs of the Main Beskid Trail and the yellow ones. Pass the church on our right, then the former „Poczekaj” Inn, and below it cross the railway line Kraków – Zakopane and get to the crossroads by the chapel with the figure of the Sorrowful Christ from the first half of the 19th century. Follow the red trail signs across the bridge on the Skawa river and past the railway station; then, leaving the asphalt behind, ascend through a rare forest to reach the village of Wysoka.

A few dozen metres from the road running through the village, we can see a historic manor surrounded by trees. Here we leave the red Main Beskid Trail and follow the blue signs, going along the fence of the military cemetery and then through the forest, passing by the indistinct peak of Jawornik. After some time, we get to another asphalt road, houses of the Nad Lasem estate belonging to Toporzysko and a junction of trails. On the right here we join the yellow signs, by which we will soon return to Jordanów. Before it happens, we follow the blue and yellow trail signs to the peak of Góra Ludwiki, which offers a spectacular panorama of Babia Góra mountain, the whole Polica Range, the gentle hills of the Maków Beskids, the low ridges of the Orawsko-Podhalański Range, the geografical region Dzialy Orawskie, the Gorce Mountains with the highest peak of Turbacz and a rock wall of the Tatra Mountains.

From Góra Ludwiki we return to the junction of the blue and yellow trails. The latter leads through a forest strip to the next line of asphalt, which leads to the Repelówka housing estate belonging to Jordanów and the Jordanów – Toporzysko – Sidzina (Przemysłowa Street) road next to the cottage chapel. Soon we cross the bridge over the Skawa river and come to a road junction in front of the railway crossing on the Krakow–Zakopane line and we return to the market square in Jordanów.
