In the area of the Babia Góra National Park, next to the PTTK mountain hostel in the Markowe Szczawiny clearing, in the building of the so-called Goprówka, there is an exhibition of the PTTK Centre of Mountain Tourism Culture. Presented here are richly illustrated information boards discussing the history of Babia Góra tourism, old photographs, guidebooks and elements of tourist equipment. A specially prepared presentation displayed on the screen allows you to get acquainted with subsequent phases of the development of the hostel.
The centre in Markowe Szczawiny is the oldest of the seven such facilities in the Beskid and Pieniny mountains, established on the initiative of the distinguished tourist activist Edward Moskała. It was established in 1966, and for almost half a century its exhibition was housed in a small, wooden, one-room building opposite the hostel. It was moved to its present location and rearranged after the reconstruction of Goprówka in the years 2010-2011. It is worth mentioning that, as a result of the reconstruction, its shape now refers to the original building of the hostel, which was erected in 1906 as the oldest building of this type in the Western Beskids.
